Setting up a CNAME record for any of the domains or subdomains that you have in a hosting account will permit you to point it to a different domain/subdomain. The forwarded domain will lose all of its records - A, MX and so on, and will take the records of the domain name it's being pointed to. In this light, you simply can't create a CNAME record to point your domain to a third-party company and keep a functional email service with the first hosting provider. It's also important to note that a CNAME record is always a string of words and never a number because it is generally mistaken for the A record of the domain address being redirected. One of the primary uses of a CNAME record is to point a domain address that you own through one provider to the servers of some other company when you have set up a site with the latter. This way, the website will appear under your own domain name, not under some subdomain provided by the third-party company.

CNAME Records in Cloud Website Hosting

You can easily create CNAME records if you have a cloud website hosting from our company. We are going to provide you with an easy-to-use Control Panel where you could see all DNS records for the domain addresses and subdomains which are hosted within the account. Creating a CNAME record includes a number of easy steps - select the domain/subdomain, select CNAME as the type, enter the hostname you are redirecting to, after that just click on the Save button. The process is as easy as that and the new record will be active almost right away. This way, you'll have more control over your domains and subdomains and over the content they open, you could set up a private URL for company emails, and much more. If you feel unsure about how to create a new record or you have never done such a task, you will find there's a short video tutorial in which you can see the whole process first-hand. If you decide to change or delete an existing CNAME record created for a domain/subdomain hosted on our end, it will take you literally only a click to do it.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with every single one of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will allow you to set up a CNAME record easily. When you want to create a private URL for your e-mails, to redirect a domain name to a subdomain within the account or to forward a domain name to another company and use some third-party service which they provide, it will not take you more than three clicks to create this sort of record. All DNS records for the domains and subdomains hosted within the semi-dedicated account are going to be listed in a separate section in the Control Panel, so when you are there, all that you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to set up and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then enter the actual record text. For your benefit, you can see a short video in the Control Panel concerning how to set up a CNAME record or you can follow the instructions in the help article, that's available in the DNS records section.
